About The Grocer
Celia Jenkins always wanted to open a food shop with a special atmosphere. Having a background in arts marketing she enjoys a creative challenge. So, in 2017 Celia was inspired to launch a small deli-grocery, simply named The Grocer.
Having spent many holidays with her grandmother in the Wairarapa village of Martinborough, Celia feels a strong affinity with the place she now calls home. These days she devotes her energy to providing an irresistible selection of food for Martinborough locals and visitors to explore.
“Hello, I’m pleased to share with you my shop The Grocer. It is filled with the gourmet and local foods you’d want to find in a neighbourhood delicatessen and products that I personally love. It’s a small space with lots to discover. I’m keen to know what customers like, so what’s on offer keeps evolving. Please come in and have a chat.” - Celia
The Grocer is located in Martinborough in New Zealand’s Wairarapa region, known for its exceptional wines, olive oils and artisan food producers. The Petit Hotel heritage building was built for retail; in 1906 housing a hairdresser, tobacconist and fancy goods depot. You can find The Grocer on Kitchener Street, at the heart of the village.
